Is he wrong though?

In my lifetime its never been allowed to be white and proud.. i get that... but now canadian pride is extremely conditional

Did both my great grandfathers die for this country to be forgotten and walked over?

I know we had a moment of silence at 11am

Did you guys?

He was def out of touch with the times

But all the same these times are completely out of touch with reality.

Change my mind...

I live in Toronto and i bet it's the least Canadian place in the country

But here we act like toronto is the epitome of canada.

The racial segregation is killing the city. In the 90s, people used to talk to each other regardless of their racial / religious backgrounds, now we have way more people yet everyone is stuck in their own community ignoring and despising the rest, feeling lonely. Waiting for opportunity to point the pc finger of hypocrisy.

Diversity is our cancer.

Hittin immigrants with the "you people you come here, you like OUR..." is really gonna stop racial segregation?

Also any stats to support you A, B and C racist comments? I have literally never seen anyone advocating for a ban on Christmas and i live in a downtown toronto condo. I have not noticed any patterns to who does/dosnt wear a popper. nor have i ever heard anyone lobby to get rid of the poppy because it reminds them of war....

I can have Canadian pride, wear a poppy and say others should wear a poppy without targeting one group and making them an other/ spreading xenophobia.
If Xenophobia/ blaming immigrants is Canadian pride for you you might want to re-evaluate that.

Downtown Toronto is the absoultely least representitive of the GTA. Lmfao...

You need to get out more buddy.

Timmies doesnt sell the poppy any more ditectly because of immigrants complaining about that exact situation. Just one example.

Its been years since saying merry Christmas has been acceptable. Companies and organizations have been calling it happy holidays .

Youve been living under a rock? Or just that downtown core?

You have to break through the barriers of fear and ignorance to live a more fulfilling life.

It is true that those of a certain background are more likely to associate with cultures similar to their own but you can break through.

Living in the lower mainland, which is full of different cultures I took the opportunity to learn more about other cultures.

In every instance I was welcomed with open arms and I feel like I am a richer person from those experiences.

I played ball hockey with East Indians. All super nice people who were super welcoming from the start. They did not care if it was just me and one other white guy. They treated us the same.

Philipinos taught me how to play basketball last year. I was terrible at it... now I am still terrible but a bit better lol. They also invited me out camping and I learned of a different culture/foods.

Again - extremely nice people who were really happy that someone took interest in their way of life. They adopted many Canadian values while still keeping there own culture.

Asian people showed me some really awesome places for late night food. I miss going to the all you can eat buffet places with old friends from work since I moved.

We need to stand together. Give other cultures a chance. You will not be disappointed.

With that being said I am still shocked he was fired and a part of me thinks it was a move for Sportsnet to get rid of Cherry because his overall broadcast quality was declining. They also scored PR points for jumping on him.

I don't agree with his comments. His choice of words was poor. That being said, as earlier stated, he has said far worse so I am surprised this is what did him in.

The message I want to get across is that if you stay in your own circle of people who are very similar too you, you will never grow. We live in a diverse country so I feel it is advantageous to learn of other cultures/backgrounds.
