Afaik, majority of the players that tested positive for covid are asymptomatic, unlike in 2020 where they were legit fucked by it and some were in serious condition with a lot of people unable to get vaccinated.
However now with 99% being vax'd, there's no report of a player being in severe status, and majority of them are just asymptomatic which puts them in the protocol.
teams that got their 3rd booster shots already like tampa didn't get affected as much, hence the game tonight.
If you think about it, covid will never be completely gone. It will always be in our life, it'll just be less of a thing as time goes by with better vax and more people become immune to it etc. It would make no sense for NHL, NBA or any sport leagues to continously "shutdown" few days each time when 6+players tests positive for it when they're just asymptomatic, other than the anti-vax people that still believe vax is more dangerous than covid itself.
