if anything they would probably end the season short go by points % and run a playoff bubble
its probably the only way to really finish out the season with the way things are going i dont see it continuing and playing out the postponed games there is just too many even if they skip the olympics

Agreed.

Things are starting to feel eerily similar to March 2020 for all the leagues.

No Olympics now. NHL has a bit more time to work with now, so this seems less likely.

nah, vaccines are working. Much different than 2020. They'll come up with new rules, like if they're just asymptomatic they can still play etc.

I'm not as optimistic as you. I want hockey.

same, i just don't think NHL will want to lose any more $$$$.
Afaik, majority of the players that tested positive for covid are asymptomatic, unlike in 2020 where they were legit fucked by it and some were in serious condition with a lot of people unable to get vaccinated.
However now with 99% being vax'd, there's no report of a player being in severe status, and majority of them are just asymptomatic which puts them in the protocol.
teams that got their 3rd booster shots already like tampa didn't get affected as much, hence the game tonight.
If you think about it, covid will never be completely gone. It will always be in our life, it'll just be less of a thing as time goes by with better vax and more people become immune to it etc. It would make no sense for NHL, NBA or any sport leagues to continously "shutdown" few days each time when 6+players tests positive for it when they're just asymptomatic, other than the anti-vax people that still believe vax is more dangerous than covid itself.
