Yup there goes our future goaltender, not a smart trade hes only 27 and goalies tend to develop later than skaters. He seems to play really well under pressure he did great for us keeping the playoff streak alive when Howard was injured and then flopped after that, altho our team really lacked defense wasn't on him. We traded him for an at best conditional 3rd round pick in 2019

He has always had a high ceiling. Red wing fans were very quick to turn on him

I disagree, i think most of us wanted to keep him...
He didnt care for the competition with Howard and the franchise always gave howard the upperhand because he is the veteran.
They should have traded Howard, he's a great goalie, but he's getting old as dirt, just should have moved on and kept the younger goalie, but this franchise always gives the veterans priority over the kids, even if its to the detriment to the team.

I mean inconsistency has always been his problem. He's having a great year but would anyone be shocked if he flounders next season? It's a very volatile position.

That said he does have talent and he's playing under a good goalie coach and a great defense/system so maybe it is the start of something.
