His worst move was trading subban for weber, i would have been happy to trade him for a good forward but trading him for a slow ass veteran with “leadership” in a game that is getting faster every damn year it doesnt make sense at all

At this point i would have taken ellis + a prospect

To be honest i would have prefered draft picks for subban what they got wasnt bad but hes been injured way too much compared to subban. Anyway this team need a rebuild like toronto. Price knee is fucked up since his last injury and they signed him instead of trading him while it was time. Which we could say are bergevin biggest mistakes

I'll give you Danault and Domi for sure, even if they weren't steals in terms of overall value, but then you realize that's all you've got in the + column when he signed a goalie to that insane contract + exchanged a franchise puck-moving dman for an aging defensive one where you only got 1 year of value off that exchange? Doesn't look good to me. I like the fact that he tried to get the team younger and sort of rebuild but then you're paying Price and Weber for so long it basically invalidates that strategy.

And yes you are right those 2 guys are bad moves but i guess he wanted to keep some vets. Weber for 7 per year is okay 10.5 for price is quite dumb.

Hard to argue against this tbh. At first they traded for weber because they thought they were close to a stanley cup with weber instead of subban. But im pretty sure the subban trade was due to deeper problems and not just the pacioretty/subban issues

if i remember correctly it was the year where they finished in the top 3 of the east and he claimed they were 2-3 players away from a stanley cup. when they acquired weber they said it was for his leadership and what he brought to a team made them think they were ready for a stanley cup

Price was actually the best goaltender that year, subban had won a Norris the year before(or 2?), he had big hopes for Galchenyuk, Markov was still healthy, etc etc etc

In his mind if everything went well his team was a contender
In reality they were playoff-tier team but nothing major
