Wouldn't you wanna play well to force a trade? I think it's more tough to get traded when you're doing fuck all with 10.5m caphit.

I mean, the Canucks bought out OEL because there was no way he could be traded without the team giving up multiple high-grade assets.

A Huberdeau buyout would be a lot nastier but if the Flames feel like there's no trade option then that's an angle they'll have to explore. Easier to just sandbag and ride the bus in the AHL if it comes down to it then to try to keep up with the NHL level of play, Hubs has a retirement contract anyways.

Oh man there is no trade option. No GM touches his contract right now.

Full no move, 0.5 years into a 7 year deal, he ain’t going nowhere.

He’s just a head case sadly. Needs some confidence. When he got benched in the 3rd period last month he sat and openly cried on the bench during the game. Who does that.

Canucks bought out oel to make cap space to bring in multiple depth guys that filled a bunch of holes on the roster. Flames aren't right up to the cap like canucks were, and there's no way they'll buy huberdeau out and deal with him for 14 yrs. The last 7 yrs will be whatever, but the first 7yrs they won't be saving much.. So it's basically a buyout proof contract.
