Having recently bought my own place and finally moving out I am looking for ways to watch hockey without much hassle when the seasons starts.

What I am planning so far:

Purchase early bird special on game centre live. The price seems reasonable and my smart tv has the app already installed. Should be a very easy process.

Problem with this is I believe you can only watch road games for the team in your area. Is this correct?

If so I would be missing half the games.


What can I do to fill in these gaps?

I think CBC lets you stream all the hockey games for free for HNIC. Is this easy to do from a smart tv? I don't want to drag cables everywhere and am not very tech savvy.

There is a sportsnet app, however that seems absurdly expensive. I can not justify buying it. So I am looking for alternatives.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

I was like wtf. No.

Got Comcast internet only, 150mbps to $68/month all in.

We have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon streaming, and YouTube TV.

It's too much right now but we're seeing what we will use.

I plan to use YouTube TV for all live sports. It even has access to all of the FSN sports channels around the nation so I'll get more than Comcast had.
I don't have NHL Network though. I would like to get that but their price is ridiculous.

Hulu also has live sports.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think even the road games are blacked out

NHL game center is really bad to watch your local team or nearby teams in my case. So many blackouts (every habs game for me, most Ottawa games and some Toronto games).

Just use reddit nhl streams and you can get a1 quality HD streams every night. Easy to use on computer/tablet/mobile/xbox etc

Not sure how long it will last thought since NBA streams has been taken down for legal purposes and I think mmastreams also.

That is a just bullshit. Now I may not even get game centre live and just deal with the hassle to stream it.

What kind of shit is that? Forget it. If they want to screw around like that I will not give them any of my money.

With how expensive it is I am not surprised so many are ditching cable and refusing to pay subscriptions.

I think you would miss all the Canucka game since they would be broadcasted regionally (not sure if it's on TSN or SN).

We have Sportsnet.

I read the details on the website that brokedown the games you would be able to see.

If you were an out of town fan it would be perfect. You would miss no games (if any), yet if you are local you get next to nothing.

The only benefit is no playoff games are blacked out.
