I did one simulation just for the fun of it and.... the freaking oilers won the lottery. Insane.

I dislike the current system. Yes I agree we need to prevent teams like the Oilers from exploiting the draft, but if a team finishes bottom 3, how the fuck can their best odds be to pick like 4-6th

yeah oilers need to hire a not shit staff that can put all those picks into a good team
every other team does it with worse picks yet the oilers cant seem to figure it out

The curent system has nothing to do with preventing a team like the oilers who had very lucky rng for 1 year that happened to have a generational in it from winning. If it did a simple x yr ban on moving from non last place to foa would have been used.
If anything this system favours a team team like edmonton who is just so lucky they always win, if such a thing actually existed.


This system is meant to prevent tanking and if that is worth preventing this system does an extremely effective job at making tanking pointless.

Problem with making tanking pointless is that the teams that are genuinely just bad don't get a chance to improve.

Philly getting Patrick over Canucks, Phoenix, etc, is a joke.

I agree, system should give each team highest percent chance to pick where they finished but not higher than say 40%. Teams that miss playoffs by a few points get 0% at top 5. A few year ban on winning foa if you do from a anywhere but last place. 3 spot limit on moving up/down. That’s my opinion anyways.

New system works. There’s now slightly less “lol tank nation” “I hope my team loses for the next month”, “pls lose tonight” garbage.
