First off, this is the thread you should track. It contains a link to each other thread and document at the bottom.

Also, this is the main thread for discussion. So go nuts.

I'm just gonna go ahead and basically copy and paste what I said in the signup thread, and not bother going into any more detail right now due to lazyness, but if you have questions, ask.

Few main points:
  • The first season will be 44 games, with each team playing 4 games against all other teams (2H, 2A)
  • Top 8 teams will make playoffs, with 1vs8, 2vs7, etc. It will be 5 game series (H,A,H,A,H for higher ranked player)
  • You can name your own team if you'd like but must start with your Jsp user name (or part of it) for easy recognition [Ex. Tom's People] [Ex. D-D's LolHabs]
  • There will be a largish draft at the beginning of the season, in which you will gain your starting rosters
  • Home Ice Advantage is implemented but only has a very small effect
  • PP and PK are not yet implemented.
  • Trades are allowed, both for players and draft picks.
  • Stats will be kept for season and for Career
Players, Rosters, etc:
  • The minimum amount of players you may have at one time is 20.
  • The maximum amount of players you may have at one time is 28.
  • Players have an age between 20-39, they retire at 40, after a max of 20 seasons
  • For the original draft, players age will be listed (random between 20-39)
  • For following season drafts, all players will be age 20.
  • Age increases every season
  • Your lineup must include 4C, 4LW, 4RW, 6G, 2G
  • Players can only play their position listed
  • If you have 20+ players, but not 4 RW's for example, you are given a filler player. He has 50 value and his stats do not get stored.
  • The rest of the players will be undressed
  • You may sit out any players before game
  • You must choose which goalie will start, goalies play worse if they are started too often. (A good balance is approximately 70% for starter, but varies depending on goalie stats)
  • Players have a known OV value, but also have hidden atributes, which are not given, but can be hinted at
  • If you have a 99 player who is not very good, he could possibly have very bad hiddens
  • If you have an 80 player who's averaging a few points per game, he could have great hiddens.
  • Hiddens are explained in a bit more detail below, and will be explained even better prior to the draft
Draft:
  • The first season will be snake draft, while following seasons will be similar to NHL style drafts
  • The unique thing about this draft is that you do not know a players Value before hand, but know the possible range it could be. [Ex. 96-98] [Ex. 66-87] [Ex. 50-99]
  • The draft will continue until each team has 25 players
  • I will not be in the draft, I will be giving myself 25 players of value 50. (lowest) This is to test the balance as I stated previously.
Hiddens:
  • Players have a known OV value, but also have hidden atributes, which are not given, but can be hinted at
  • If you have a 99 player who is not very good, he could possibly have very bad hiddens
  • If you have an 80 player who's averaging a few points per game, he could have great hiddens.
  • Hiddens are not as important at OV, but still play a big part. (As you may find out with a team of 90 bums)
  • Hiddens include:
  • Heart - The will to win, will usually play much better in third period if losing
  • Confidence - Will not be as afraid to take a decent shot
  • Momentum - A player with high momentum plays better at home and while winning
  • Consistency - A player with high consistency will play more consistently and less sporadic
  • There are more than I may inform you of later

For some discussion purposes: Who do you think was the star of the night, and why?

A few options:
Blair Brannon - Picked 1st overall, was scouted to be a step ahead everyone else and they was very high hopes for him. He made his debut tonight with 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points in a win over Tom's team. He currently leads the league in points, and is tied for the lead in goals.
Ernest Ketron - LilCanadian's team was voted the favourite going into the season, and fielding Phil Konrad, the only goalie that was considered 'elite' prior to the draft. Ketron made a great debut by stopping all 35 shots he faced, shutting out LilC.
Norris Lonny - Lonny hellped Imagine storm to a 5-0 victory with a shutout over jbell
Norbert Merle - Tallied 3 assists in stealth's 9-5 win over dragoneth.
Other - Give reasons

Dayum LilC's voted as the best? Well I guess I can see why

My vote's towards Ketron with Lonney a close second

Edit: Because of all of the saves they made against such high caliber teams to each earn themselves shutout
