The state of the Clippers proves one thing.
-Crunkt

In the Summer between the 2018 and 2019 season, something crazy happened in the NBA world. A rumble heard throughout all the lands and every team. Kawhi Leonard had been traded to the Toronto Raptors for Demar DeRozan. The arguably 4th best player in the league before his injury was just dealt in a blockbuster trade that ended up making massive waves and impact on the league. Culminating in a Championship the very next season in 2019.

All of the player bases and fans bases all thought one thing at the time, well, two things. They thought Toronto got lucky because of injuries.. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, and for the sake of this post, they all thought Toronto landed the Golden Goose. "Kawhi Leonard carried them," the people would say. "Any team could win with Kawhi," the posts could been seen all over reddit.

Maybe the biggest person on the planet that bought into the notion of the Golden Goose was Billionaire Steve Ballmer, former CEO of Microsoft. Steve and his team did everything he could including going several million over the luxury cap as they had taken over Paul George's Max (Bird) Contract just to incentivize Kawhi to fight against the Lakers in the Battle of LA. For better or for worse.. Kawhi took the Ballmer bait.

Anyone watching the Clippers during the early 2020 season and into the bubble knew that Steve Ballmer was the number 1 clippers fan on the court every game. Steve lost his shit all the time when PG13 lobbed to Kawhi for jams and when Kawhi would drain threes. Steve had it, he had the golden Goose. Surely it would result in a championship soon after?

The Giant question mark that is the 2020 season has so many asterisks that likely half of you remember the Lakers won it. Lebron got his 4th Ring. JR Smith got another ring too, he was there... They beat the Heat, not that anyone remembers... Ballmer probably puts so many asterisks on that season he doesn't even acknowledge that his Golden Goose(s) got knocked out in hilarious fashion to the Nuggets. 7 game grueling smack on the lips by Reality and Jamal Murray. Asterisk Season! They shout, no one even remembers how much the Clippers Failed.

There is no point of even mentioning the 2021 season. Other than no one will ever forget the COLLOSAL collapse again poetically losing when up 3-1 in a series. The Failures of the Clippers being Romanticized by Chuck and Shaq. After 2021 Clippers became the butt end of jokes again except this time they were paying 20 mil in luxury taxes.

Now the soon to be infamous 2022 Season. Kawhi Leonard, known for a serious injury, is now sidelined for the remainder of the season. Golden Goose Gone. Paul George, having zero spine, is currently faking a now 3 month long Elbow injury because he doesnt give a god damn shit about anyone but himself, much less Ballmer.

Is Ballmer mad? Are Clippers fans screaming hell or high water? Surprisingly no. If anything, right now all the talking heads are giving the Clippers praises... But Why? They failed with the Golden Goose, and his side kick PG13. How? Clippers are currently on a 5 game win streak.. They are solid to make the playins at least. They just beat the Lakers in dramatic fashion. Everyone is secretly rooting for the Clippers right now. I personally feel like the first time in a while, I actually want the Clippers to win.. Why not? How hilarious would that be? Lebron haters would love that no? Clippers have this magic right now and as soon as their Golden Goose or PG minus 13 come back.. It'll be gone.

The Current state of the Clippers proves one thing. You Cannot buy a championship. Billionaire Steve Ballmer thought he could. But he failed, laughably. . Every team had 'earned' it in some way or another. The Bucks are a representation of the pinnacle of this notion. Now that the Clippers are forced to be a home grown team.. Maybe they get the message too.
