So I’m not gonna lie, I’m a total OKC homer that consumes more Thunder media than the NBA at large.

Being a rebuilding team, there is not a ton of Thunder breaking news right now and most of the content i consume is looking forward to what the team could be in the next few years.

The Thunder Subreddit and Podcasts I listen to have been talking up SGA as already a top 20 player in the league... a lot of semi-sarcastic comments like “he’s already better than Paul George”

Do you guys agree? Personally, I think it’s a homer take. SGA is really good. Without making a list, I’d maybe consider him top 30. Is that too generous? Where do you rank SGA among the NBA elite?

Null'd because I don't keep a running list of players but he's among the best of the young guards in the league. At his age and his production, Thunder should be thrilled to have him initiate their rebuild, now let's get him some help.

Above 30 is too generous considering he has no expectations and no playoff games to look at, the question was about current NBA. If it was prospects then SGA is easily above top 30.

I think your gut opinion is probably correct. He has shown a lot of growth this season but sat out the last 2 months so it’s hard to place him. I don’t know where these top 20 takes are coming from considering he hasn’t played in a while but Thunder nation keeps pushing him up the list lol

He played well in the playoffs last year when we pushed the Rockets to 7 in the first round. But it was kind of outshined by the CP3 story line and Dort’s 30 pt performance. I agree with you though, he is a great prospect and has the potential to eclipse top 20 in a couple years if he keeps getting better. But right now, 30-35 is probably the highest he should be ranked. I love shai, but I’m skeptical that he can be the best player on a truly competitive team. Hopefully we can draft another star this year or next to pair with him.

Yea you’re right, just a little too premature and not in a true alpha role like we need to see yet. Hard to say what SGA will be until 2-3 years from now when OKC starts making the playoffs again

Ranking top 10 is hard enough.
Now you want to rank a player whos more of a prospect than not.
That would be like ranking tyreke evans when he was the ROY with the Kings.(For the abundance of trolls. This is not me comparing SGA to young Evans)
It's too early in his career to say he's x.

Not to mention if you go off the old argument. Name 20 or 30 players better.
People can't even agree on a top 10 list. People who go further and try to rank top 20, 30, 40. Are just silly bored.

SGA is a good young prospect. Thunder need to be thankful they've found someone who they can potentially build around.
But we'll see how he looks in 2-3 years.
