On this episode of The Void, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor turns his attention to Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers and breaks down why Simmons is one of the NBA’s best defenders, how he’s improved his offensive game this season, and what he’ll need to do in the playoffs in order to help the Sixers compete for an NBA championship.

Sixers vs Brooklyn ECF, gimme your homer opinion on how it’s gonna go. Game 1, 2, 3 4, etc.

Hard call, the Nets have so much firepower offensively but such shit defense. If they can't figure out the defensive issues then i don't know how they make the Finals. If they do, and at least defend at an average level then they will be a problem lol.

Sixers have an elite defense, and the Nets have no answer for Embiid in the middle.

But playoff time is a different beast, and that's when superstars are the difference and the Nets have plenty of them.

Let's recap Simmons 3 seasons in the NBA so far. I won't count this current season (it would only help my case though since they're #1 seed right now) since we're not even halfway through yet. So let's look at his first 3 seasons:

In the three seasons Simmons has played for the Sixers, the team is 146-91, good for a .616 winning percentage. In the three seasons before his arrival, the Sixers were 56-190 (.227 winning percentage).

He has a 12-10 career playoff record.

2x All-Star
1x All-NBA 3rd Team
1x All-Defense 1st Team

All accomplished by the age of 23 years old.

LeBron didn't win his first ring until he was 27
Curry didn't win his first ring until he was 27
Jordan didn't win his first ring until he was 28
Durant didn't win his first ring until he was 28

Simmons is on track to be just fine.

A Championship, yes.

Well, I think DPOY is on the horizon for him. He's making a good case for it this season.
