So I'm in Australia and i woke up early to watch some NBA as times here are during the morning. Next thing i know games have been boycotted.


So from what i have read is that police responded to a 911 call due to domestic violence where they encountered a man who has history of domestic violence/unlawful carrying of firearm and also the rape of a 14 year old girl. The police attempted to arrest the African American who had a warrant for his arrest who then decided to get physical with the police. They then tried to restrain him with a tazer to which he resisted then went to his car and lunged toward the seat to grab something in which the police then had to result in gun restraints as the previous attempts did not work.

A) The man pulls a weapon to use on police = justified use of force to subdue the perpetrator.

or B ) Let the man get in his car and then purse him by car = Dangerous for citizens which could be caught in a high speed chase?

Now perhaps i agree 7 shots seems a little excessive, in the heat of the situation i can understand if it wasn't in fact malicious intention by the police officer that the extra shots could be due to high levels of adrenaline if in fact the person was in fear of their life.

So now im confused to why a man who resisted and didnt comply to officers and continued with what could of been a potential safety risk for the public and the police which then resulted in a negative outcome has now stopped the NBA??

FYI Im all for BLM and people protesting for their rights and safety of themselves and as a white person i cannot judge the movement or comment on how it is especially not being from America but this to me just seems like it makes no sense.

What happens if the dude who got shot turned a weapon on the police and fired killing them/potentially hurting the people surrounding by accident? What happened if the police let him drive off to cause a high speed pursuit where he crashed and killed the children in the back of his car or someone standing by?

Sorry, just a confused opinion of a Australian wanting to watch some NBA during a shitty lockdown time

you're telling me 2 trained police officers cannot arrest 1 citizen (with tasers too).

Because they leave out lots of the facts. The media makes it sound like his guy was targeted, that the police showed up with intent to kill him.

They tried to tase him.. Didn't work.. They tackled him, he got away, he had a knife, he went to his car to get it... What...

yeah so 2 guys + Tasers cannot arrest 1 guy.
They should be fired. Thank you for proving my point
