Shams: Celtics Trade Jrue Holiday to Portland for Anfernee Simons, Two Second-Round Picks

How is Boston coming away with picks and the better younger player here? Totally baffling

Better is a reach. Simons sucks defensively, and he's an expiring contract. Biggest win is Boston getting out of that Jrue contract.

Its a 1 year rental for Boston if he isn't moved before the season.

Great spot for Simons though. Gets to take on a big offensive role with JT out in a contract year which should get him a big payday

Good move for Boston

At this point Holiday is washed, he is a 20-25 MPG who is really only valuable as a lock down defender.

Boston absolutely robbed Portland here. They get off of massive salary on a declining player with no true downside.

I agree its a win for Boston. I think Portland looking for veteran leadership for their guards. They had a lot of redundant players.

Simons is a terrible defender who was top 3 in worst shot selection last season. He doesn't create space either so his shots are always contested. But knowing the Celtics system they'll make him look so much better than he is like they do with everyone on that team which will be perfect in a contract year for him. Some team will see him do well, overpay him, and then he'll go back to being a dime a dozen guard lol

I still think Portland should be getting a FRP to aid Boston in getting under the 2nd apron, instead they give up two 2nds

Raps fire Masai, he has been on a really bad run the past few years but still this is probably a step backwards considering who will take over
