Shams reports that the NBA is going to investigate the 76ers for Embiid's participation

But the team is holding him out indefinitely to start the season, and the reason they gave is he is "progressing" and will play at some point. But the thing with that is there's been no reported injury that he has to "progress" from. He just played the Olympics and did not suffer an injury. So, what is he progressing from and why is he not playing?

Didn't matter when he was injured or worn down. Then again when they had the 1 seed ben simmons was their second best player and was absolutely ass in the second round while embiid dominated getting triple teamed.

Zero reason to push him during the regular season. That's why they went out and brought Drummond back and have serviceable backup bigs who can play full time. They also have two other all-stars and a real cast of role players around them now too.

Rest him as much as necessary and make sure he's ready in the playoffs.

Embiid needs to stay in shape, and the team needs full roster on court time to get the chemistry ironed out. Sitting Embiid vs Milwaukee in the opener is not the answer.

The good news is, Joel is as fast as anyone I have ever seen in acclimating to new teammates.
