Brad Stevens > Danny Ainge

He is willing to let go of picks for good role players. Ainge was always trying to gamble on guys like Shaq, Jermaine, Marbury, Hayward, Kyrie, Kemba…

With Ainge instead of Stevens, they don’t pick up White or Holiday and instead come up just short again. Trying to greed their way to another star player like PG13 in the offseason or taking a swing on a prospect with issues like Bridges

None of it happens w/o Ainge acquiring Brown and Tatum

Stevens was able to be aggressive because he already had the guys in place

Both deserve a ton of credit

The difference is Ainge never went for role players even when he had KG / Pierce / Allen / Rondo he was still greeding

There is no reason to think Ainge would give up on fleecing people in every deal. He would still be trying to do it in Boston therefore going for guys like White or Jrue is not in his nature

I agree that Ainge would never have taken the shots Stevens took, but all I am saying it Stevens can't do any of what he did w/o Ainge leaving him 2 stars.

Stevens get more credit, no doubt. I just don't want people to forget what Ainge did too.

Ainge played Brooklyn and Philly well but I think he also deserves criticism for not capitalizing another ring out of the original Big 3 + Rondo

Never forget that Danny "sits on his hands" Ainge gifted the Lakers one of the most lopsided deadline trades in nba history. He deserves no credit and deserves no praise.
