Trade Jaylen brown to Lakers, he’s not worth 60 mil per year for 5 years if keeping brown.

Just look at Tobias Harris contract n production and not choosing butler

Tobias didn’t win nothing and Sixers gave him max contract because he’s young n have potential. Now dropping single digit points in playoffs.

Same as brown he’s not worth super max to keep n dropping 15 points in playoff games.

Didn’t know u stressed out over Sixers years of failures

Tobias had nothing to do with Butler not signing though. They could have signed both. Butler left because of Simmons and Brett Brown..

They would have had

Butler Max
Tobias max
Embid
Simmons

How are you fitting all those salaries?

Also the sixers dint even offer Butler a max deal, according to WOJ, take it for what it's worth.

So kind of seems like they chose to pay Tobias...

Bird Rights....you can go over the cap.

Also, Simmons was still on his rookie deal at the time. The sixers absolutely could have re-signed both, and the owner Josh Harris publicly stated numerous times that he wanted both of them back. It would have been tight and limited their ability to add much around them, but they could have done it.

As The Athletic’s Derek Bodner wrote, if the Sixers bring back both those guys, as well as Redick at $12.5 million a year and key reserve Mike Scott at $5 million a year, they will likely be exceeding the salary cap and luxury tax thresholds — estimated to be $109 million and $132 million, respectively, for the 2019-20 season — and coming dangerously close to the $138 million Apron (essentially a hard cap in sheep’s clothing).

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Philadelphia was "prepared" to offer Butler a max contract extension at the end of the 2018-19 campaign as long as he didn't take any other visits to potential landing spots.

The team demanded this even though "Butler was lukewarm on re-signing with Philly last offseason and the organization was aware."

Alas, Haynes reported Butler did not agree to such a condition and eventually landed on the Miami Heat as part of a four-team trade.

Haynes provided more details on the split between the 76ers and Butler, noting the five-time All-Star "wasn't sold that the team was invested in winning, and his leadership style rubbed some the wrong way at times."

Head coach Brett Brown apparently was not a fan of Butler's outspokenness, while "Ben Simmons once took issue with a text message Butler sent in a team group chat that instructed Simmons what not to do in an upcoming game against Brooklyn."

At the end of the day, they stuck with Simmons who was coming off an All-Star season at 20-21 years old after having drafted him #1 just a couple of years earlier. He had all the potential in the world at that point and nobody in their right mind would have dumped their 21 year old All-Star #1 pick for an aging Butler with a bad reputation for being a team cancer. Hindsight is 20/20, but they made the move that made the most sense at the time and nobody can really disagree with that.
