Bovada has Byron Scott and Kevin Ollie as the favorites.

I don't LOVE either choice. Going to have to just trust that the Lakers know what they're doing...

1. Byron Scott // Kevin Ollie 7-2
2. Tom Thibodeau // John Calipari 4-1
3. Derek Fisher 15-2
4. JVG 8-1
5. George Karl // Kurt Rambis 10-1
6. Lionel Hollins // Mike Dunleavy Sr. 12-1

Tryna keep this relevant.

Bunch of mock drafts have top 6 going different.

Whatever pick the Lakers get I'm hoping for (in this order):

1) wiggins
2) exum
3) Parker
4) embiid
5) randle
6) smart/gordon

We'll find out our placement may 20th and our actual pick June 26th. Not to mention were also looking for a coach atm. That combined with what we'll do in free agency, this is going to be a great and exciting off-season for the la lakers. Will have to hope that the playoffs help pass the time until then.

Modification, how can you assume the Lakers will be contenders in a few years when they have basically no roster at all right now and a large part of their possible success depends on a college prospect, which can go one way or the other?

Not to mention they play in the West and in a division that's strong as Hell all of the sudden.

In four years Kobe and Nash will be gone with only Sacre a possibility of the current ground (and he probably won't be there, lol), so you're saying they'll pull a championship team out of nowhere, basically.

I just hope they can get back into the playoffs or at least play better than .500.

what can i say? i trust the lakers organization. miami heat did it (although yeah dwade was a constant factor) in four years. 08-09 they didnt make playoffs and they won in '12 of course.
why cant we do it? like you said our team is going to look completely different by then (in 4 years). I view it as a good thing since our team right now is sorry as hell.

we have the cap space (SEVERAL good players in the FA in the upcoming years - westbrook, durant, love, noah, etc)
we have the pick(s) (the very least, we'll have a potential all-star in this years draft)
we might have the coach (i'll get back to you on this once i found out who we get)

not to mention the SA spurs will, im going to assume, not be as dominant in 4 years as they are now.
plus we'd be killing two birds with one stone IF we manage to grab durant/westbrook since that makes okc less relevant (sorry pinecones).
plus LBJ wont be in his prime which helps everyone else in the league ofc.

I'm just optimistic about our future.
plus i wasnt exactly dead serious when i made this sig.

Gotcha.

I have a lot of faith in the organization and frankly the team's resources and market is a draw for talent, so they will be competitive eventually, there's just so much in the air for the next couple of years. Basically, like I said a few pages ago I think, these last two years will kind of be Kobe's "farewell tour" (assuming he plays and doesn't get injured into early retirement) and they will need to wait till he's out of the picture to pursue a very competitive team.

I just hope they assemble a roster that is at least fun to watch. All things considered D'Antoni succeeded in this the best he could last year lol.
