Players will always give the diplomatic response in interviews, I wouldn’t read too much into what was said publicly
He’s clearly not going to come out publicly and say he hates the fans for crucifying him and hurling abuse at him, although we can pretty much make that assumption for him.
Obviously it’s the entire Philly organisation that has caused him mental scarring, I’m not saying that it’s undeserved, but some of the comments from fans were definitely over the top. It wasn’t just criticism, it was legitimate personal abuse. Obviously removing himself from that situation is going to play a big part in his positive mental health.
You’d be a fool to suggest he wasn’t suffering from some form of anxiety issues or depression after that Hawks series.
He has a mental block or problem with shooting a basketball, that's for sure. He has admitted publically regarding his FT's, a big part of it for him is mental
To my point about the NY Media. Not one person in attendance today asked him if he was actually diagonsed with something..Anxiety, depresseion, etc. That would have been a great question. This worked to Ben's benefit. Yeah, I'm sure he did feel a lot of pressure after the Hawks series. He's a good player and played like shit. He also really cares what people think about him. He won't shoot a ball because he can't live with looking bad. He literally cannot handle critiscm. Which is what led to all this.
What I know is his mental health situation was unbearable in Philadelphia 6 days ago to the point where he could not practice or play with the team, only brought up his mental health issues after the Sixers stopped paying him (not earlier in the summer when all the reports came out he was upset with being blamed for the loss, Doc, Embiid, etc), and all of a sudden he's fine by being in a city less than 2 hours away.
That doesn't seem odd to you at all?
