Wizards Trade:
Russell Westbrook
Why the Celtics do it: Maximize your championship window by getting a point guard who can defend and facilitate to Tatum/Brown. Westbrook can spread the floor and create more open looks for Tatum/Brown as well. He brings that level of intensity that's missing from this team.
Why the Wizards do it: They've been teetering on a rebuild now for awhile, and they could get more for Westbrook than they gave up for him originally. You get a young player in Langford to develop, and build up your pick chest. Additionally if you highlight Kemba Walker, you hope you can get some of the old Kemba and still flip him.
The Celtics need to realize that they're not going to attract a star via free agency, not like they have cap anyways, and they don't have the assets to trade for one. While Tatum and Brown are both young, if you don't start competing for championships, Tatum and Brown aren't going to sign new deals, they'll look to go elsewhere.
Wizards wouldn't do that unless they planned on moving Beal as well.
