The titles they won they won on defense, rebounding, high percentage shots, etc. Shaq would have 20 rebounds consistently in the playoffs and the two they won recently were largely because they had Pau, Bynum and Odom with role players like Vujacic, Brown, etc.; not just Kobe. Kobe was obviously critical but there were games they won when he played poorly because the Lakers were fundamentally rock solid.
This is why I was pissed they went with D'Antoni (spelling?). That guy wants to run a high scoring fast-paced game with fucking Kobe, Howard, Pau, etc.? Fucking moronic.

Also, the main difference is age. Look at our players now compared to when Lakers won. Same type of players, slower step.
Lakers are getting owned when you're running.
Look at Howard today. If we had him when he's in THIS shape for all the games, we'd have alot more wins.
He could barely jump the first 50 games.
