In the billups introductory presser. NO has stated that Lillard wants to retire a Blazer. That his happiness revolves around winning at the highest level.
Lillard says he's expressed this to stake holders.
So there goes the Lillard wants out of Portland talk.
Also it's getting reported that Lillard isn't seriously considering a trade request.
He's a smart man, He knows any trade request just starting his 4 year extension from October would gut a team of any and all assets.
For example if he were to be traded to Philly it would take.
Simmons + thybull + maxey + 3 firsts and probablly something else. Given the fact that he'd be locked up until 35. As well as given the spot of those picks to land with Lillard + Embiid... It would take all of that and probably more to pull the trigger for Lillard.
Lets remember. Lillard & Curry are 1A and 1A in terms of point guards in the league right now. To get a player of that caliber who is locked up for the rest of his prime it takes a kings ransom.
That's the expected haul if he demands a trade.... Due to his extension as well as Portland holding all the power.

My take is that Lillard and Olshey are stubbornly loyal to CJ to their own detriment as he is an ill fitting piece making their roster flawed. That’s the main thing that needs to change but they may be too passive and then have everything blow up in their faces
This take is not entirely correct.
Lillard is extremely loyal to those around him. But he wants to win.
Olshey is loyal to those who he deems he "gave their shot".
This is why the guy gave Meyers Leonard 4/40. Matched Allen Crabbe max salary, Gave Harkless 4/40.
He then also brought a guy he drafted in Aminu to Portland, refuses to trade CJ(who he drafted) and is now refusing to trade Nurk(Who he gave a starting spot)
Basically Olshey's guys mean a ton to him and he refuses to trade them.
Zach Collins just broke his foot again per reports. I expect him to be brought back. He'll be out now for 3+ years if it's a jones fracture. All because Olshey refuses to give up on HIS guys.
Now he's giving Billups his shot. Now I think Billups is an outstanding coach and Portland could've done a lot worse with Hammond or MDA. Considering the rumors about Hammond coming from the Spurs & other outlets.
But lets make no mistake. I question the hiring process given Olshey's history for HIS guys.
