idk how DM is able to convince himself that Butler + JJ for Horford + Richardson is a sensible move

Horford signing was stupid beyond belief, but to be honest, the Tobias Harris is even worse.

They brought Horford in for a reason, Harris? I think they just panicked. Honestly, they could've just brought in like 3-4 shooters, and then surrounded Butler/Simmons/Embiid with them.

Harris is just another guy who's taking shots away from the two guys that actually matter.

I don't get how you can justify that contract at all... He's never been an Allstar, he's only hit the 20 PPG like once (he hit the mark again this year with 19.4 PPG, so twice), and he's been one of the worst defenders I've ever seen. Just such a slow wing, I remember his days with ORL. He's a decent wing, don't get me wrong, but 5/180? Jesus fucking Christ I knew that wasn't going to age well.

Contract is terrible, but not as bad as you think. 2022-2023 it's partially guaranteed, so once Horford's legs break down on him, at least they can cut their losses!

Again, you're going way off track taking this off subject again after I won the previous discussion....

This was about you claiming that Butler was a better shooter than Richardson, which was false and I provided the factual evidence to prove such. Not really an argument, Richardson is a superior shooter outside of 15 feet, period.

Also, JJ wanted way more money than what the Sixers could give him. And at the end of the day having a second reliable big man that can play center was hands down the #1 glaring weakness of that team last season. Horford, overpaid or not, is a massive upgrade over anything we had last season spelling Embiid in the playoffs. The Sixers had zero players that could be used in a playoff series to play center, besides Embiid. Horford fills that hole, as I said overpaid or not.

Losing JJ is meh, that bullshit handoff offense they ran was so predictable come playoff time as it always is. JJ would get abused defensively too, which doesn't happen to Richardson.

You're delusional man. Butler and JJ over Richardson and Horford without blinking. In fact, there are many alternative moves the 76ers could have made instead to be better than they are now. Idk how as a Philly fan you are just okay with this level of mediocrity and ineptitude.

Horford is one thing, but Harris is playing well...

Check what he has did in the 6 games that Embiid and Simmons were out. 26/7/4 on 52% FG and 43% 3pt.

Harris isn't the issue lol. Everyone knows hes a really, really good scorer and hes very efficient. The issue is A.) How he is being utilized by the coaching staff and B.) Al Horford playing like he lost his powers to the Monstars.

Butler was leaving, that was it, he planned to leave before the season even ended. It was lose him for nothing, or get Miami's best player last season who is a two way player who is 25 years old on a very team friendly contract for the next 2 years. Sixers made out great on that sign and trade. Its unfortunate that Richardson has had major injury issues this season, but when healthy he's a super nice piece who can give us 14-15 points a game while playing great defense at either guard position.

Horford at this point has been the strange fit, but again his true appreciation will come playoff time. That's when we see his actual value, when rotations turn into 7 or 8 guys at times and having that second big man will be critical when Embiid is getting rest (or fucking hurt). Yeah he would be an overpaid backup C, but if that's what it takes to win then fuck it.

I disagree......... with that from what I’ve read , the only thing that guaranteed Butler leaving is Philadelphia was sticking to Ben Simmons as their go to guy .... “Bens Team”

If Philadelphia was willing to trade Simmons for assets , he would have stayed and it would be Jimmys team ... am I saying that’s the right decision ? No .... they were smart to keep Simmons over Jimmy “Team Cancer” Butler ...

However .... Jimmy has points about Simmons ...

He doesn’t work hard - he just glides by on his natural talents .
He isn’t willing to lay it all on the line for a championship .

Watch that interview with JJ on his podcast, he sort of made it clear that he knew when he was leaving.

Also I don't know were the "Ben doesnt work hard" theory comes from? Outside of taking jumpers, something he doesn't feel comfortable doing, the guy improved every aspect of his game and looked terrific this season. He absolutely killed it when Embiid was out too.
