7TH easiest schedule in the league on a whopping 14 game sample size

Come back to me at the All-Star break and we'll revisit the #1 offensive rating 76ers

Even if they're top 5, it'll be VERY impressive.

No Ben Simmons all season

No Embiid for the past 5 games due to Covid

No Tobias for 6 games due to Covid

And still #1 offense in the NBA. Missing their three max contract players for all or chunks of the season, and still rolling offensively.

Defense is a concern, but that's no surprise without their 3 best defensive players with Thybulle out due to Covid too as well as Danny Green missing time due to his hamstring injury. No team has been hit as hard with covid, injuries and bullshit holdouts as much as this team this season lol.

A good nugget from Sam Amick at The Athletic.

He penned a story today titled “The Ben Simmons saga, one month into the season: Where things stand and what’s next.” The gist is that a trade does not appear to be close, though this part is particularly interesting:

Quote
“…in case you wondered, the Sixers have an actual list of such names internally.

As you may have heard by now, Portland’s Damian Lillard is not only on said list but somewhere near the top. Ditto for Brooklyn’s James Harden, the former Rocket with whom Morey tried unsuccessfully to reunite with in January and who, by the way, could come to Philly via sign-and-trade this summer if he decides to shock the basketball world and leave Kevin Durant behind. Also high on the list: Washington’s Bradley Beal. Those kinds of guys.

But here’s the part that may come as a surprise: A source with knowledge of the list said there are approximately 30 players who would satisfy the Sixers in a Simmons swap, and there’s an internal belief that a fair amount of them — let’s say five to 10 — could become available in the next year or two. And while it might sound like a long list, consider this much: It’s approximately six percent of the league and the rough equivalent to the number of All-Stars selected every season. The framing of the timeline, more than anything else, speaks volumes about the long-term approach the Sixers insist they’re taking.”

Ben Simmons is apparently broke and his cash flow problems could force him to return to the Philadelphia 76ers, according to 94WIP's Howard Eskin.

Quote
"I was told by somebody very reliable he may be tapped out, broke," Eskin said on Tuesday's 94WIP Evening Show with Joe Giglio. "Cash flow broke. Because he's losing so much money, but he spent so much money. 17.5 million dollar home, remember he has to pay taxes too. 17.5 million dollar home. He's got two homes in the Philadelphia area, probably worth eight or nine million. He buys a new car every month, four or five hundred thousand. He just spends money like it's nothing because he thinks it never ends. And the person that told, it's very reliable that he has got serious cash flow issues.

Last week, Simmons—who says he is dealing with mental health issues—was fined by the Sixers for skipping the team's six game road trip.

Quote
"Remember this trip, he doesn't get paid for any games, so that's well over two million," Eskin continued. "He may have to come back. I don't want him to come back, stay broke...I thought he was going to be out the whole year, now he may have to come back just to get some money."

Simmons, 25, has yet to play a game yet for the team this season after requesting a trade months ago. Simmons is reportedly working with team doctors to help him mentally prepare to return to the court.

Simmons, a three-time NBA All-Star and two-time All-NBA first team defender, teamer signed a five-year contract worth $170 million in 2019. He has already made approximate $90 million and he is due around another $114 million over the next three seasons, according to spotrac.com.

As a team, the Sixers have dealt with COVID-19 absences, forcing Joel Embiid to miss the last eight games. Over that eight game span, the Sixers are just 2-6, but have received incredible play from second-year point guard Tyrese Maxey.

“I’m not sure the Sixers would think that hard about it right now. Honestly I think they would said, ‘Hold up, we have a small, fast guard named Tyrese Maxey who is outplaying De’Aaron Fox and is on a rookie contract.” - Zach Lowe on a Ben Simmons/De’Aaron Fox deal, The Lowe Post.

If Young Glove is in that boy getting clampt. If Maxey can give our best in the NBA defense problems I'll tip my fedora though.

Funny story: I met Gary Payton II and his mom (GP Seniors then wife) when he was a kid at a water park years back. He was probably like 7 or 8 i guess. She approached me to talk basketball, ask if i played, etc. and then introduced herself as Gary Paytons wife and had GP II with her. I wasn't sure to believe her at first (besides the fact that she was sexy as fuck) but then i later googled her and confirmed. Nice lady though.

Anyways, Maxey will show out as usual hopefully. Should be a good test, i just wish he had more help rofl.

"Lillard intends to give the Trail Blazers organization time to find its next leader of basketball operations. But beyond the front office component, the face of the franchise still wants significant changes to the roster. Multiple sources have told The Athletic that Lillard would like to play with Philadelphia 76ers three-time All-Star Ben Simmons. The Trail Blazers’ league-worst defense would instantly improve, and sharing a backcourt with a non-shooter could work given Lillard’s high-volume usage.

Sources say the Trail Blazers, under Olshey, discussed the framework of a trade for Simmons, moving CJ McCollum, a first-round draft pick and a young player such as Nassir Little or Anfernee Simons to Philadelphia. The 76ers, sources said, at one point asked the Trail Blazers for McCollum and multiple draft picks and multiple draft swaps, which Portland rejected. Olshey maintained significant confidence in the roster he constructed. Now, it’s unclear if there’s a deal to be had with the 76ers. But with Olshey out, who among chair Jody Allen, vice chair Bert Kolde and Cronin would be the one making the call on a Simmons trade or any acquisition designed to alleviate Lillard’s concerns?"
