That part isn’t true. The best dunkers do enter it, for the most part. It’s just that the best players aren’t actually the best dunkers

No one would ever expect guys like Embiid/Giannis/Luka/Jokic/Tatum/KD/LeBron to even get close to pure dedicated dunkers like Mclung…. The only good players who might get somewhat close are Mitchell, Zion and maybe Edwards, but they aren’t really the best players in the NBA

I don’t even think there was a single real 50 dunk the entire contest

Prime lebron would be incredible in a dunk contest.

The best dunkers generally don't participate. They usually have scrubs in there or alternative options. It was nice that JB, one of the best in game dunkers in the league, agreed to do it though.
