But is the Process over or is there still hope for next year?
"The Process" was a Hinkie thing, and after he was pushed out of office new management slowly burned what he had built.
In terms of what it brought, it worked 100% what it was set out to do. It reloaded the Sixers with draft picks, cap space, and franchise players. As Hinkie said in his exit letter, you hit some and you miss some but the goal is to give yourself as many chances too hit that home run. The Sixers hit the home run getting guys like Simmons and Embiid, while also acquiring a ton of draft picks along the way (i.e. fleecing the Kings in that absurd trade we made with them) and they struck out hard getting guys like Okafor and Fultz (which Fultz was a Colangelo move where he used Hinkie assets to trade up). The issue is after Hinkie exited, new management took those assets and tried to take big swings and next thing you know the Sixers squandered a #1 pick in Fultz, meanwhile Jason Tatum is out there going bonkers looking like he's going to be one of the leagues best scorers for the next 10 years.
I mean someone like Colangelo walked into the absolute best situation possible. He walked into a team that had Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, a shit ton of draft picks and tons of cap flexibility. Instead the mother fucker was making burner accounts on twitter being the piece of shit that he is. Then again the NBA basically forced him into the role because they couldn't stand watching Hinkie rebuild by tanking which was killing the leagues revenue from a top 5 market.
It is what it is, a new coach will do this team some good though. The pieces are still not ideal that's for sure, but even as its currently built the coaching can definitely be much better.
