The 76ers make it kinda obvious that they are giving up on this season. They replaced Niang, Shake, and McDaniels with 2nd round picks and Beverley. If they consulted Embiid on clearing the books for an all-in move in 2024-2025, then it makes sense. Would also coincide with Maxeys first All-Star season

Niang, Shake, and McDaniels....

Three players who weren't even in the playoff rotation rofl. Oh no! Well, Niang was for like 15 min a game maybe, but he is one of the biggest defensive liabilities in the playoffs and always gets exposed. Niang can shoot the three, but he moves like a slug and always gets targeted come postseason.

You're not wrong about the Sixers holding out to preserve the ability to remain competitive for the foreseeable future. If they had signed all these fringe rotation role players to contracts it would have screwed up all their cap space and not made them any better lol. Now, they'll potentially have two max contract slots available after this season. Morey is thinking long term, not signing guys just to sign them...

They're not bad on depth tbh. They've got Melton, Beverly, House, Reed, Bamba, and Springer all coming off the bench. Would have been nice to keep McDaniels though to see what Nurse could do with him.

Are you confusing Melton with Milton? I think you are....They're two different players. Melton is good and was a steal of a trade, he's a key 3&D rotation guy starting 58 games last season and playing 28 mpg

Shake Milton and McDaniels weren't even in the playoff rotation. McDaniels was in the beginning but he was awful and quickly fell out. Shake never was, despite having a few nice stretches during the regular season. McDaniels is an athletic wing so I was disappointed to see him go, but nobody really cared when they let Shake or Niang walk.

I like Shake Milton's game, he's a smooth scorer and can get buckets for sure. Struggles defensively. But when the Sixers already have Maxey, Harden, Melton, and now Beverly on the roster they're going to eat up the guard minutes leaving nothing for Shake Milton. I'd like to see Milton get consistent minutes in Minnesota though, he's fun to watch (on offense that is - not much to show defensively).

If there is ever an indicator that someone doesn't know what they're talking about..well, that was it.
