Time to give the front office some praise, with all of the things people question them about here's one positive that has really flown under the radar...
Before the season, the Sixers signed Shake Milton to a 4 year contract (the final year being a team option). $1.4M this season, $1.7M next season, $1.8M in 2021/22 and $2M in 2022/23 (team option). The guy had only played in 20 NBA games last season as a rookie, and only averaged 13 minutes per game in those 20 games. He also played in the G-League as he was on a 2-way contract as a rookie.
Milton's role this season was a bit inconsistent with Simmons and Richardson eating most of the minutes in the backcourt, although he has shot very well (47% FG and 43% 3pt).
Lately he has been balling out though, and with Simmons injury it has allowed us to truly see what he can do. It's pretty obvious the Sixers have found their backup PG, and that long term contract they signed him to could end up being an absolute steal for a rotation guy that can be a serviceable backup guard.
Over his last 15 games (since he started getting real playing time consistently) he's averaging 11/3/3 in 23.8 minutes per game on 51% FG (7.4 FGA per game) and 51% 3PT (on 3.8 attempts per game).
Last 4 games: 16/4/3 on 60% FG and 71% 3PT (on 5.3 attempts per game).
Kid has game, and the front office knew it and locked up him up long term for peanuts when they had the chance.

Don’t you get sick of buying into the hype of any Sixers player who shows a glimpse of hope?

Seems sustainable
BUMP
Shake Milton today against the Clippers:
39 points, 14-for-20 from the field, 7-for-9 from 3PT.
Shake Milton has set the NBA record for most threes made in a row with 14, per ESPN.
WHAT A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH BOYS!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Still almost beat the Clippers on the road without Simmons, Embiid or Josh Richardson. Wow.
