Agreed, not the same player and the max contract is extremely unappealing, but if he does opt out and he can get signed at a more reasonable value, he could be a key contributor on many teams.
I mean he only has one year remaining, if he even decides to opt into it.

just said, his actual production was pretty good considering, especially with so many good wing players on the same team. 17.5 PPG, 6.7 REB, 4.1 AST on 50/38/86 is pretty on par with what you'd expect from him playing next to three other All-Star caliber players.
If he goes to NY he'll probably be dropping 20 a game again. I don't think he's as explosive as he was, and his drives have cut down dramatically but again that might be a result of the offense he was playing in with a lot of mouths to feed.
