I think this is the right thing to do by Morey. Players running the show has gone on long enough. Players that are divas don't need any special treatment.

This will set a precedent for other players who think they want to diva their way to another team. Hopefully other teams follow in moreys footsteps.

1000% this.

People overthink the entire situation, and don't understand how important this situation is for the NBA. The league, the owners, all of them are backing the Sixers in this case and need to see them hold strong and not give in to Simmons demands. It would simply give the players even more power than they already have, and the league wants to avoid that at all costs. It's very bad for business to see well known players pull stunts like this.

We're not talking about a player with 1 year remaining on his contract asking to be traded, we're talking about a player with FOUR years remaining. How often does this happen? This is uncharted territory for a player at this age, after signing a 5 year max contract, to be demanding a trade and holding out with four fucking years remaining.

Either way, Morey and company are making the right call by saying they won't budge. There's absolutely no reason to trade Simmons "just to get rid of him" and settle for less than what he's worth when he's actually playing. The team looks pretty good without him anyway, so it's not like they're feeling the pressure right now.

You're talking about two years ago? lol

Before they signed Danny Green, before they traded Richardson for Seth Curry (who is absolutely balling out and was a bonafide STEAL), before they drafted Maxey, and when Thybulle was a rookie? They also now have Drummond at backup C, they've signed Georges Niang who looks like a beautiful underrated addition as yet another shooter. Not to mention when they still had Brett Brown coaching?

That was pre-Morey too, and he has been incredible since he came to Philly. Lord knows how bad things would look if Colangelo and Brett Brown were still running things.

They've blown out the Pelicans and Thunder, and they went down to the wire with the Nets in a game where they had control until the last 40 seconds :wallbash:

edit: Shake Milton hasn't played yet this season either, which he should be returning soon. Without Simmons they could use more back court help.

Two years ago Tatum was 21 and Brown was 23. Embiid was 25 so obviously he was a much more matured star than Tatum, to not even pick up 1 win after 4 seasons to develop as a #1 franchise player and supposedly be an MVP caliber player....

Even when the Bucks were filled with dog shit players and coached by fucking Jason Kidd they picked up a few wins against the Celtics

This is such a random cherry picked time to bring up lmao.

You're talking about the end of a season where Brett Brown was absolutely getting fired no matter what, and when Embiid was averaging 30/11 that series absolutely dominating through double and triple teams every game with no shooters around him to help space the floor.

The team is wayyyyy different now, and unlike then they actually have SHOOTERS around Embiid. Plus, Tobias Harris was poop then in Brett Brown's system he's an All-Star caliber player under Doc. This team is MUCH better equipped to survive without Simmons now than they were then that's for sure. Still need to get something in return for Simmons to be a true contender, but this team is still very good and I think Simmons eventually plays in Philly again at some point this season (before ultimately being traded).

With that said, we're probably fucked tomorrow

For Sixers-Knicks tomorrow:

Joel Embiid (right knee soreness) and Andre Drummond (right ankle sprain) are questionable.

Ben Simmons (personal reasons), Shake Milton (right ankle sprain) and Grant Riller (left knee injury recovery) are out.

2018 NBA playoffs this is the team that went 7 against Boston under Jason Kidd's "system"

Eric Bledsoe / Matthew Dellavedova / Jason Terry
Malcolm Brogdon / Tony Snell / Sterling Brown
Khris Middleton / DeAndre Liggins / Rashad Vaughn
Giannis(23) / Jabari Parker / Mirza Teletovic
John Henson / Tyler Zeller / Thon Maker

Jason Kidd got fired right after that as well so its identical to your Brett Brown scenario

Giannis had 2 shooters in the lineup and his shot was terrible at that time. still won 3 games with a busted system

Looks like a better team around Giannis with actual guys who can create their own shot in Bledsoe, Brogdon and Middleton....

I'm also not sure what you're even arguing here. Embiid dominates every playoffs he literally averages like 30/11 in the playoffs every year and draws double teams at minimum every single possession. To imply Embiid who is a top 5 player when he plays (health is always a concern ofc) is the issue would be silly. Embiid is the primary reason the Sixers have had a 50+ win team in the 3 of the last 4 seasons.

Stopped reading at Bledsoe could create his own shot

I'm honestly not sure what you're even trying to argue here. You bring up a random playoff series from a few years ago in the bubble, then you brag about the Bucks almost but not actually beating a mediocre Celtics team in a playoff series even farther back, and we're still confused as to what your point even is? How is any of this relevant now?
