I’ll admit giannis is the actual MVP and standout best player in the league.
But as for Tatum being best player in the league, it’s certainly a discussion. Let’s just remember only a year ago you were all laughing at me for suggesting Tatum is a top 10 player. You said barely top 20. He’s rising rapidly and still seems to be getting better and better while improving his weaknesses (shot selection, play making and court vision)
But yes Celtics clearly the best team in the league right now, a Tatum MVP to go with a championship would just be very satisfying with moderately good chances of happening.
realistically Jokic and Curry will end up with enough wins by season end that they can't just award the MVP to Tatum with these type of stat gaps, Klay and Murray will warm as the season goes on. it isn't like we're talking about some marginal difference which in that case winning more games would be enough. also Tatum does get very high usage even though his team is so good all around, now even their bench doesn't miss a beat when he sits or misses a game... so he gets his chances to pad just like Luka, Curry, or Doncic. the things working against Tatum right now are mediocre 3 pt shooting numbers and his bench is absolutely killing it... part of the MVP narrative has become more floor raiser vs ceiling raiser so having an elite team around you does impact your chances (especially if you're noticeably behind on analytics)
