Sometimes I do, one time he paid me by getting me a hotel room for the weekend at the casino. Sports gambling is illegal here yes, but weed isn't, if you have the proper paperwork. I wish our casino's would let us bet sports. My bookie and I were looking at flights to Vegas this afternoon actually. $326 round trip is the cheapest I found so far which isn't bad at all.

What state do you live in?

I was under the impression any and ALL forms of gambling besides in Nevada were illegal in the U.S, including sports betting, slots, various casino games etc, no?

Or is it just Sports betting illegal in all states besides Nevada, and you can still play slots/poker/blackjack etc anywhere the fuck you want?

I'm so confused now.

Edit: obviously you don't live in Vegas then.

Michigan is where I live, we have tribal lands that the American Indians own and have casinos, but they don't allow sports betting, its some federal law I think that the big bosses back in the day made to make vegas the center of the gambling universe. I think they make way more money off bets than they do the games, but that's just an assumption, not a fact by any means.

Oh gotcha!

I've never understood why betting is only legal in Nevada in the states, besides tribal lands and I think maybe in Atlanta or something as well? Can anyone give me some clarification? And are you legally allowed to sportsbet from a computer from home like many here do?

Pretty much any form of gambling (as long as it isn't gambling on something illegal in the first place) is legal in Australia, I've always wondered why it's different over there.

Just seen your edit

I think it's to keep the money in Vegas more than anything, if gambling was legal everywhere like it is there, nobody would go there.

That's understandable but a pretty stupid law lol.

It's not like any other major city would ever have a Strip like Vegas. That is obviously the major attraction to going there, plus the G.C I guess.

Vegas was founded by the mafia, and they had considerable pull with politicians back then (bribes and threats) and they got a law passed to basically give them a monopoly on gambling. The strip isn't why most people go there, it's to gamble.

Well from my point of view, I wouldn't go there to gamble lol... I can do that any day of my life, and I'm sure almost all international tourists would be similar..

I'd go for all the shows, luxery motels/apartments, bars etc.

Ya I'm sure tourists from places where it's legal that's not the draw, but for Americans it is. I'm sure some people go for the shows but the majority is to gamble. It's too bright for my liking, flashing lights and neon everywhere fuck that.
