Embiids comments just now were great

“At the end of the day, our job is not to babysit somebody”

Embiid: “I get paid to deliver…the guys who are here are willing to help me, and I’m willing to help them”

Embiid: “I’d be willing to babysit if someone wants to listen, but that’s not my my job”

He also said he has not spoken with Simmons since he returned...

Wat

So if you can just get the mental part down you're 90% of the way to being in the NBA? Don't have to be tall or athletic?

Everyone in the NBA is tall and/or athletic. The mental game is what sets players apart and allows guys to survive long and successful careers in the NBA. There's always another tall/athletic guy waiting on the outside for his chance, one that might have the mentality to survive. The NBA only has a few hundred spots, and there are countless people around the world that fit that tall/athletic mold and play basketball.

Just like in other sports, being big and athletic isn't enough to get you to greatness. You have to have the mental toughness and ability to handle the media, handle the critics, continue to learn and stay humble enough to not let the money get in the way of your hunger in order to have a long career.

There are a ton of guys around the world that are good enough skill wise to play in the NBA, but don't have the mental toughness or maturity to handle that type of pressure and all of the things that come along with being an NBA player.

Ahead of getting thrown out of 76ers practice, Ben Simmons declined several times to sub into a drill, sources tell ESPN.

Sources: Doc Rivers asked Ben Simmons to join a defensive drill today. Simmons refused. Rivers asked again. Simmons said no again.

Rivers then told Simmons he should go home, and Simmons dropped the ball and left.

What a shit show, why would he even bother showing up if he's not going to participate? Did he think he'd get away with that and still get paid?

So you didn't make it because you couldn't get the mental part down?

lol I had decent athleticism at the college level, like most, but not elite NBA level not even close. The NBA is a whole different level of fast, but there are a lot of guys out there that fit that mold with crazy athleticism and skill and have been playing their entire lives but aren't in the NBA.
