Those Ben Simmons stats are interesting but I wouldn't say he's his a plateau. He established himself as an elite defensive player last year. But the most interesting thing is and will always be his unwillingness and fear to try and spread the floor and shoot behind the arc. I've actually never seen anything like it. It's not like the guy needs to be a 40% 3-PT shooter, he just needs to get some respect from defenses when he's behind the 3-PT line. Look at Lonzo Ball, who has clearly been working every year since joining the league on his form and ability to hit from behind the arc. I just don't understand why he's so afraid to even take a shot, it hurts his team. Potentially he isn't a winning obsessed player, which would make a little sense.

Ben Simmons is what he is at this point.. his unwillingness to attempt jumpers is going to hinder not only his success, but the Sixers as a whole. He and Embiid are not an ideal duo despite their respective talents

It's frustrating, but also funny how much he is scrutinized.

A guy in his 3rd season playing at 23 years old gets All-NBA honors and is selected as an All-Defense 1st team selection and he still gets slammed for not being good enough. People expect a lot more from him, because he has the potential to reach a new level of but who knows if he'll ever hit that point. At this point him and Embiid produce well on the court together but you're right they're not an ideal duo because they both do so much of their damage in the paint.

Still a lot to go, and Doc gets a longer leash because they had no off-season run really and only two pre-season games. So we'll see how things look 10-15 games in.
