@ShamsCharania: Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Anthony Edwards is finalizing a five-year maximum contract extension that can reach $260 million, sources tell me and @JonKrawczynski.

If you have a young son or nephew it's best to train them at basketball? These contracts are amazing and put your grandchildren's children in a position where they most likely don't have to worry about money. Even after taxes! Assuming the player in question doesn't blow their money off the court. A lot of these guys wisely invest in their own businesses and even if they're careless spenders they are still fine. It's not like the NBA in the '80s and even '90s when some players would go broke. And if that happens they can host autograph sessions, schedule public meetings with the fans, and still make big money off their name. O.J. Simpson still does that today at 75 years old.

Baseball is probably better. Shohei Ohtanii may break the $500 million dollar barrier next off-season. Football is the toughest sport to play (physically demanding) and the NFL contracts are barely in a good place despite the salary cap. More guarantees on contracts outside of the signing bonuses. Deshaun Watson, say what you want about his off-the-field drama, set the tone with his contract with Cleveland last year. He had gotten that fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract which is quite rare for an NFL contract.

Or just win the $800 million jackpot in the powerball lottery and you don't have to worry about playing professional sports. LOL

I'm sorry for the thoughts today guys. I'm feeling anxious. I'm debating whether or not to play Path of Exile through Steam.

Do you guys believe where Damian Lillard ends up will change the competitive landscape of the NBA? Or is it pretty much going to be the Golden State Warriors vs. Milwaukee Bucks in the 2024 NBA Finals? I mean if Dame ends up going to the Miami Heat or Boston Celtics, for example, the Bucks are no longer the best team in the Eastern Conference. If Dame somehow ended up with the Lakers (pipe dream) I may take them over the Warriors and Nuggets.

Probably depends on the team he goes to but also define “competitive landscape of the NBA”. Like if he goes to Boston or Denver out of nowhere than those are loaded rosters and would be big time favorites, potential juggernaut teams

If he goes to the main teams that have been rumored so far, I don’t think they’re unbeatable so no I don’t think it changes the landscape unless he goes to a select few teams

I do think Pat Riley is going to end up landing both Damian Lillard and James Harden.
I'm just not sure a big three of Jimmy Butler, Dame and Harden can win an NBA Title.

I really like the Golden State Warriors adding Chris Paul. He's 38 and this is it for him.
For just one season I believe the Warriors can win one more championship. CP3's time.

And with one more NBA year gone by (2023-2024 season) the Houston Rockets will be inching closer to something special.

Random NBA players were polled a while back about the best cities to play in. Los Angeles (Lakers, Clippers) was at the top. New York, San Francisco Bay Area (Warriors), Miami and San Antonio rounded out the top 5. Houston was 12th and behind Dallas at 10. But the three last spots were Minnesota, Sacramento and Cleveland. But that hasn't stopped them from landing some good talent. LOL.

I was surprised Houston wasn't much higher than 12. It used to be that a lot of NBA superstars (even LeBron and Kobe) would train hard in Houston during the off-season. Shaquille O'Neal used to have an off-season house in Houston despite playing for the Magic, Lakers, Heat and Celtics. But the current generation of NBA superstars must not like the city of Houston as much as they used to.

I also thought Boston would be a top 5 NBA city. It's 13 behind Houston. I guess it's too racist? Fans there can be mean. LOL

I haven't given it much thought but what if Damian Lillard ends up with the San Antonio Spurs?
Jeez! I still think the Rockets have a better future but the Spurs would become a problem again.

Just when you think Coach Gregg Popovich, a 74-year-old legend is near retirement, he gets new life!
Victor Wembanyama may be the greatest 19-year-old NBA prospect since LeBron James. We shall see.

But if you add Damian Lillard to the Spurs they're going to accelerate their rebuild. May challenge for a playoff spot.

I think Miami with butler and dame is a nice squad but beatable, also would have to consider what they give up in these scenarios, so no it doesn’t change the landscape imo

I think it's the Heat culture more or less. That type of star power under Spo, the best coach in the league, and a program that develops players as well as anyone.

Dame, Butler, and Bam surrounded by their usual no name yet productive role players would be pretty tough to beat.

He's going to shoot 42% from 3 and make 220 of em.

Beasley was ass for us, when the game was on the line he couldn't make anything but when we were down 20 or in garbage time he would go 5-5 and still lose the game.
