I didn't know as a point guard and floor general his job was to take 20+ shots a game and shoot 45% from the floor like some PG's lmao. Scree him for only needing 11 shots a game to average 17 a game and shoot almost 60% from the field ๐Ÿ”ฅ

I thought maybe being 4th in the NBA in assists per game and leading the league in passes per game would be a pretty good indicator of the type of elite passer and distributor that he is (even without many shooters around him). Not to mention being the best rebounding guard in the league, or leading the league in steals or defensive loose ball recoveries, or being top 3 in deflections, or being top 3 in defensive win shares. Or you know, just playing elite DPOY caliber defense all season.

But fuck it, what about his PPG? Sports Center says that's all that matters.

Remind me again what type of numbers Giannis was producing at the same stage of his career? Not in his 7th season playing but in his 3rd.

Explain to me where Giannis was drrafted and where simmons was drafted again since you cherry pick everything

And Simmons is an All-Star and franchise player, exactly as a #1 pick should be. And he's only 23.

Simmons 23/9/5 tonight and casually averaging 24/9/7 on 65% FG over his last 10 games. While being 1st team All-Defense caliber on the defensive end and generating turnovers more than anyone in the league.

Meanwhile Embiid shit the bed and put up 11 points and 5 rebounds on 1 for 10 shooting tonight.

Simmons is quickly turning the tide in Philly, he's playing without a doubt far and away the best basketball of his young career and still getting better. Embiid needs to get his shit together coming off that injury is a solid excuse I guess (not) but damn he looked like ass tn. These two just can't get on the same page and produce at the same time.

I feel like Simmons is just really irrelevant other than when he's going down hill. Doesn't really do anything to help the team. Overrated on defense too. I seen nothing of it tonight that makes him an "elite" defender. Everyone was cremating him off the dribble

One play and he didn't do a bad job at all, you ever play or watch basketball before? Big man steps up there and helps nobody stops a guy 100% of the time all season long, guys get a step sometimes.

Simmons cuts that off majority of the time lmao you're reaching hard. Check Simmons stats on the season when defending Tatum and then talk to me ๐Ÿ˜‰

Besides elite court vision and passing ability, and being an elite rebounder, hes a good post up player and finisher, moves well without the ball cutting as well. Doesn't space the floor and shoot jumpers and casuals just look for that.

Guess I need to point this out again though regarding his defense. Let's not forget he can legitimately defend all 5 positions on the floor and do it well (was the only player in the NBA to guard each position at least 10-percent of the time and hold the opposing player under their normal production (points per 100 poss) at all five positions.)

Quote (Sixers @ Feb 1 2020 12:16pm)
All-Star caliber players Ben Simmons has guarded this season (Butler, Tatum, Siakam, Beal, LeBron, Westbrook, Harden) have shot a combined 26 of 87 when guarded by Simmons, per NBA.com. Thatโ€™s 29.8%.

He also happens to lead the NBA in steals (2.2), defensive loose balls recovered (1.1) and is tied for fourth in deflections (3.8) per game. Third in the NBA in defensive win shares.
