Was offered more than 33/3 (Exum) in October -- but turned it down
He's willing to sign below 15 million yearly
Stevens and Ainge both let him know they really want him back

Pretty sure since he's willing to sign below 15, he's staying

Finally got a chance to start this season
1 turnover a game on 37 minutes during the playoffs as the primary ball handler
That's quite impressive

Great 3 point shooter, but still inconsistent with his offense. Shot selection is an issue

Wouldn't worry to much about Rozay

We get that a lot from Smart, and occasionally Jaylen as well
I'm expecting to see a lot less of that with Hayward and Kyrie + Tatum/Browns growth providing open looks for everyone

guys, I found the magic # smart is looking for: $14.5 Million

Free agent Marcus Smart remains unsigned, but it appears his market is picking up.

According to the Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach, Smart met with two teams on Tuesday and is scheduled to meet with two more Wednesday in Vegas. The report adds guard is looking for a multi-year deal worth less than $15 million per season. In May he told ESPN he felt he was worth more than $12-14 million per season.

On Monday, Smart was asked where he stands with the Celtics.

“That’s what I want to know,” he said. “I have no clue. I can only control what I can control.”

The guard reportedly hasn't had any contact with Celtics executives while in Vegas so far.

Since he is a free agent, the Celtics have the right to match any deal he gets offered and he could also sign the $6 million qualifying offer with the Celtics, but it appears he wants to cash in now.

I still bet the celts match if he’s offered that elsewhere (with the caveat of I don’t know what their salary situation looks like)
They’re just doing business...he’s good but not essential...so they’re letting the market set his value

latest smart update:

It has been reported by Yahoo! Sports' Jordan Schultz that both the Grizzlies and Nets have contacted the Celtics about a potential sign-and-trade for restricted free agent Marcus Smart.

Smart was seen with his agent speaking with Nets general manager Sean Marks at the Thomas and Mack Center on Monday. A clip of the conversation occurring was posted on Twitter by Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

Danny Ainge expressed on Wednesday that signing Smart is the Celtics’ top priority.

"There are guys that we’re looking," he said to reporters. "We’re all here watching all the teams play in the Summer League, watching different guys work out. But our priority remains the same. Our priority is still Marcus in free agency, and that’s where we are.”

The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach reported that the 24-year-old is open to a multi-year deal at less than $15 million per season. The option of signing the Celtics’ $6.1 million qualifying offer and becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer is also on the table for Smart.

Ainge also stated Marcus is our top priority and that we will indeed be paying the tax this year

Get it done!

We offered Smart the same amount money before last year, and during the season multiple times which he rejected, that he eventually agreed to...... So... At this point Ainge has all the time in the world to dictate his value... Worst case Smart takes the Q/O, and we could lose him which would suck... But it is what it is.
