Sometimes you have to force people to grow when they are scared.

It’s all about enabling and creating an environment for growth.

The Sixers have shown they can’t do that.

Or they wouldn’t have failed so often with their draft picks over the last 10 years. They have only gotten it once. Which was just dumb luck and the fact that anyone could look at embiid and say, yep, that’s an nba player.

Take a look at butler.

Which the 76ers had. He force himself out of there because of how poor the organization culture is

Then he goes to the heat, which are known to have a great culture, and he is thriving.

It’s very clear that the 76ers organization as a whole is part of the problem. To say it’s strictly a player problem is ignorant.

It’s very similar to when I worked at a certain consulting company. Their average sales person % to quota was 25%. They kept blaming the problem on the people they were hiring (a 64 person division). So they would fire or “enable” people to quit, and rinse and repeat through new people. The problem still persisted.

While yes you can argue that part of the problem is the person, at that level of failure, there is something systematically wrong.

Over the past 10 years or so, the 76ers have been completely awful at drafting and player development.

You can’t expect to Draft flawless players or near flawless players. You have to develop your people. This is as true in business as it is in basketball (which is a business)
