But todays game by all accounts does not fit that style of play
The league is all about space and pace. You have a big man out there that doesn't spread the floor, doesn't handle the ball, can't face up and beat a guy off the dribble he all of a sudden becomes a lot more useless than he would have been in the 90's.
Embiid is a post up machine, he posts up more than a lot of entire teams do over the course of a season but he also spaces the floor a bit and always takes guys off the dribble and faces up hitting that mid range.
Shaq would be great regardless, but he was better off in that era and not the current one. That era was all about the post up and allowing bigs to just sit in the paint and not be as responsible for defending elsewhere and moving their feet. Bigs now gotta work and have to MOVE.
