Again, you're proving my point for me. In the same way that you admit that you will someday forget the names of good coaches like Bray and Drew, think about how most other casual fans like yourself will remember Calipari. Casual fans will forget him, just like they'll forget guys like Tom Crean or Billy Gillispie.

/casual fans who don't follow Kentucky, that is

Coach K, pitino, coach cal, Roy Williams, all true elite coaches.

Boeheim, larranaga, buzz Williams, Jamie Dixon all good coaches better than turgeon from the ACC marylands old conference.

And you mentioning tom Crean and Scott drew as elite coaches proves you're not very knowledgeable in basketball. I'm glad you have a college team you follow but your list of elite coaches is far from any that would be listed by polls, players, or coaches votes. You're hyping a coach that not only isn't a top notch coach but not even top 15. A coach that's not in the top 5 in his conference. Izzo, Matta, Ryan, Beilen, Crean all far superior in the big 10 marylands current conference

I remember tom Crean for the scrub he is only making it with wade and failing ever since.

Further more coach cals second worst year at UK would still surpass the highlight of turgeons 17 year career. so when you want to talk basketball let me know. Because I'm definitely not homering kentucky here but spreading out a vast array of coaches you overlooked, must not be familiar with, unable to comprehend statistics of, or just cheer for who daddy says is good. Caliparis 2nd worst season at UK (elite 8) would be the highlight of turgeons 17 year career, beating his one sweet 16 appearance with Wichita state

Crean and Scott Drew are not memorable coaches; that's why I grouped Calipari in with them. They will all be forgotten by casual fans a few years after they retire.

There are really only a handful of elite coaches in this league: Pitino, K, Roy, Turge, Shaka Smart, and Tony Bennett. These coaches will be remembered for their accomplishments.

Calipari kind of reminds me of Bob Wade back when he coached HS. His performance was commensurate to the amount of talent he had on his team.

What would be a successful season for your Maryland turtles this year? Making the ncaa tournament? The degree of success at kentucky has always been measure as a championship or a failed year. long before coach cal and long after he leaves . That's why kentucky basketball is the most prestigious program in history. Turgeon wouldn't have a place among our assistants and advisors let alone a job as a head coach here or any real d1 elite program.

Of course Turge wouldn't want to be involved with your coaching program; he has his eyes set on a championship every year, not just bringing in the best recruiting class and training them for the pros.

I don't get all of this jealousy for Turge. Kentucky still has a decent program, they're just held back a bit by their coaching staff. Coaches like Turge only come once every couple decades--you either got an elite coach like Turge, or you're doing everything you can to find the next one.
