He's not built like that, guy is mentally fragile.

Ben Simmons since 2019:

with Embiid in 145 games:
16 pts/75, +3% rTS, 8.3 ast/75
+1.1 on/off (+6.1 on), 76ers played at 56-win pace

without Embiid in 49 games:
19 pts/75, +2% rTS, 7.2 ast/75
-4.3 on/off (-3.2 on), 76ers played at 39-win pace

Morey calls and asks for a CJ + Roco for Simmons deal. What do you say?

With no picks i'd do it. Either with roco or picks, not both

To be fair, Simmons does need a team built around him that will allow him to work in the paint by himself. Him running with the top post up player in the NBA doesn't make much sense, even if they have had a lot of success together statistically. It works, but it's not ideal.

When Simmons plays aggressive he can do great things, but we have to question how often he'll be aggressive or if he'll check out and not even look to score. The guy randomly decides to attack and be aggressive and drops 42 points on the Utah Jazz when Embiid was out, then all of a sudden will take 5 shots in a game and not even look at the rim most of the time. It makes no sense.

Would put the Sixers in a weird spot with 3&D guys though lol.

They'd have Thybulle, Danny Green, and Covington on the roster.

Yeah I don't think they need roco. He's great but yeah. Cj would be great for you though.

Simmons reportedly willing to sit out the entire season. Pay the fuck up BITCH

On Tuesday, ESPN's NBA insider Ramona Shelburne reported:

"I talked to somebody close to Ben the other day, and they said, 'What is the purpose of him showing up at this point? With all that has happened in this offseason. If Ben even shows up, let's say it's a month from now or two months from now, he has no intention of ever doing that - but what Ben Simmons are you going to get at this point? Mentally, emotionally, spiritually, is he going to be the same guy he was for you in the past few years?"

If he doesnt play at all what sort of fine will he have to pay? Is it big fine? Per game? How does that work? If its not too much he will just stay home and say fuk all.

Once he starts missing exhibition and regular season games, he's fucked. He may as well kiss his entire salary goodbye if he held out all season. Right now he's not feeling the hit too much, nothing he can't handle. But he's in so deep now and really can't show up at this point lmao.

Rich Paul and Klutch Sports have been awfully quiet lately, things aren't exactly going how they planned. This is a terrible look for them.

Yesssss now the truth is leaking out, now we're getting some of those juicy details that we wanted. Embiid starting to speak up today with his recent comments :bouncy:

Earlier this week, a report came out from Sam Amick at The Athletic, which more or less said that Ben Simmons was done with Joel Embiid and didn’t want to play with him anymore. It didn’t have anything to do with the off-court relationship, but was purely an Xs and Os type of things. A stylistic clash.

From the story, a snippet:

There’s nothing personal about this choice, it seems, but the 25-year-old Simmons has clearly decided that his career is better off without Embiid blocking the runways in the paint that he so badly needs to succeed.

As he sees it, sources say, the organization’s choice to build its basketball ecosystem around Embiid’s style simply isn’t conducive to the way he needs to play. So while Embiid insisted to reporters on Monday that he wants Simmons back, this much is clear: The feeling is not mutual.

Embiid was asked about this Thursday at Sixers training camp, and this is what he said, courtesy of Kyle Neubeck at Voice:

Key part of what Embiid said is this:

Quote
Embiid on Ben, partial: "Our teams have always been built around his needs. So it's just kind of surprising to see. Even going back to, the reason we signed Al, we got rid of Jimmy, which I still think was a mistake, just to make sure he needed the ball in his hands."

I said that it was a mistake to choose Simmons over Butler. The smart thing was to cash in on Simmons when his value was sky high. I remember that you said it was better to bank on Simmons developing because he had greater potential than Butler and he was younger

Well yeah, definitely said that just like everyone else. No front office in the NBA was going to pass up a 22 year old Ben Simmons in his second season as an All-Star for a 30 year old Jimmy Butler who is known as a team cancer himself (ironic, right?). That would have been a bit extreme to bail on your #1 pick in his successful second season....hindsight is 20-20. Everyone can be a Monday morning quarterback now.

That's what cracks me up when people call into the radio stations here and say "I told you so we should have traded him years ago!" lmao yeah, except that's not realistic and nobody could justify that then. Everyone expected Simmons to progress and get better like any other potential superstar player (which to his credit he has defensively). While he's still a good player, All-Star and even has All-NBA on his resume, he clearly had no intention of taking that next step to top 10 while in Philly.

Forget Butler though, if we're talking about "what if" then i'm a bit upset we didn't get Harden for Simmons while we still could. :wallbash:
