There's zero reason to trade him right now, his value can't go any lower and it's the worst time to expect a trade. When the season comes around and teams start moving pieces and getting desperate a better offer will come around. Other star players get disgruntled, teams aren't happy with their rosters, etc. And if not who cares, then we let him suffer and he destroys his own career because at this point most Sixers fans are fine with him just rotting.

Sixers holding strong and not bending to his demands is a statement for the league too. You know DAMN well the NBA and other front offices don't want to see Simmons successfully force his way out in this manner and further give players more power.

And in the meantime? Maxey's value shoots up because he'll be given a starting PG role and should have himself a nice breakout sophmore season.

yeah that's good. and Maxey played well. good for him for getting more minutes

his value can go lower. Brogdon and a top 10 pick is not a shit offer, neither is CJ and a mid lotto pick. if this was 2 years ago when he was still a budding player I'd agree its a sucky offer, but given the circumstances those are decent offers. especially from teams like Portland and Indiana where there is no guarantee he really likes sticking around. the other thing is those are players who can come in and immediately make the team better (especially better than having your 2nd best player sit at home) do you really want better value but from prospects who aren't ready to contribute or even worse draft picks that could take years to develop?

the other part of your post is extremely shitty for the Sixers. all those years of tanking to get nothing out of your 2nd best player? and for what, just to stick it to Simmons? then other players around the league will know to avoid Philly

It's lose-lose situation for everyone, but there's no reason to trade him now for pennies on the dollar. None. For what? Just to "get rid of him"? Just to get a mediocre return?

Nah, they can get a good return on him mid-season, much better than what they can get now in the off-season when teams are usually pretty comfortable with their rosters. Once things start burning down on certain teams they get desperate, they ALWAYS do every season when the pressure is on and they either need to move a disgruntled player or look to improve their roster.

I'm cool with sacrificing some regular season wins early on in the season, and so are most Sixers fans. We've already established a Championship isn't happening with this roster the way it's built with Simmons. The #1 seed was cool but that's pointless now without playoff success. Good thing this team has drafted well in recent years with guys like Maxey and Thybulle so we can see what someone like Maxey will do in a bigger role.

wasting another year of Embiid's prime seems like a bad move. there is no guarantee that teams who get desperate will give up what Morey wants here. tell me some ideas of what teams will be willing to give up a better player than Brogdon or CJ?

Rumors of Brogdon or CJ are all rumors, just like everything else. Nobody really knows what has been offered and what hasn't. Lots of mixed information coming out every day.

At the end of the day Morey is one of the best in the business, we're lucky to have him managing this situation and not dumb fuck Colangelo still. Morey knows what he's doing, and the fact that he's not settling and letting Simmons win is a great thing for not only the fans but for the NBA. If Simmons won here and held out and forced a trade by acting like a brat and not showing up at all, it would send a message through the NBA and they'd have a problem on their hands with players in the future taking that same approach.

The Sixers will be plenty competitive as long as Embiid is around, and that's all that matters right now. They won't be the #1 seed again, but they'll still be a playoff team. And plus we finally get to see what the team looks like consistently with a point guard that shoots and is more aggressive as a scorer. They'll take a hit defensively for sure, but i'm interested to see how things look with a more scoring minded PG.

seems to me that Morey is just adamant about "winning" this deal, reminds me of Danny Ainge, look how that turned out for the Celtics. what was the last great move Morey even made? bringing in Harden and CP3 are his last good moves honestly.

you avoided the question though, who better than Brogdon or CJ will the 76ers be able to target before the deadline? keeping in mind both fit for the team, ability to contribute immediately, and the potential of being made available. I think the absolute ceiling Philly could hope for is Denver trading Murray

Morey calls and asks for a CJ + Roco for Simmons deal. What do you say?

bro what? Morey signed on with the Sixers and immediately made a bunch of great moves for the Sixers....

He flipped Josh Richardson for Seth Curry which turned out to be an EXCELLENT move. Curry shot 45% from 3pt this season and balled the fuck out in the playoffs (19 ppg on 58/51/80) and he's on one of the best team friendly deals in the league.

He also immediately got rid of the Al Horford disaster contract, flipping him to OKC for Danny Green (who shot 41% from 3pt and just re-signed with the Sixers for two more years).

Then he drafted Tyrese Maxey, Isaiah Joe and Paul Reed. All of whom have exceeded their draft positions, especially Maxey who looks like he could be a stone cold steal in the draft at #21.

As far as a Simmons trade, I'd take a Murray. Hell, i wouldn't mind CJ + Roco TBH, but Morey isn't trying to settle and obviously has his eyes set on a bigger trade package.
