I agree with that the Celtics still need a major acquisition (superstar) to go into a Final series against GSW without being a clear underdog.

However, that has something to do with the fact that the Warriors have stars taking less AND the team is STILL going deep into the luxury tax. If the Celtics decide they wanna escalate the arms race and match that spending, they have room to build. Alternatively, the Warriors might fall back to Earth sometime soon.

how might the Warriors fall back to Earth barring injuries? if they retain Curry and Durant, plus either of Klay or Green (they could retain all 4 which is downright absurd talent) then its up to the competitors in the league to build a team that can beat that. right now the closest thing we have is the Rockets, which contains multiple question marks if they can in fact rise to such a challenge (Paul and Harden have floundered to worse teams than the Warriors before)

Rozier and Barbosa offer little defense, little passing, can't create their own shot, can provide energy and scoring spark, and thus both are best suited as 6th men

anyone who trades an asset for Rozier thinking he will be an above average starting pg will be very disappointed

i'll call it now Ainge will dangle Rozier at the next deadline because the alternative is he will have to overpay Rozier

I agree it doesn't seem likely for the Warriors to regress anytime soon. Which is why my post was mainly about the Celtics needing to follow suit and be willing to go deep in the tax to add another superstar. When the Warriors finish their Finals sweep of the Rockets, that will make it clear to all the GMs and star players that there is only one way to compete:

Find a big market with some good pieces already in place, group up and go deep into the tax, even with some paycuts.
