The Washington Bullets won the 1978 NBA Finals. Do any of you remember who won the MVP award of that series?
Wes Unseld was the undisputed MVP, and I remember, because one of my friends grandfather told us about the story of Game 7. DJ was emerging as a star before his very eyes, but somehow managed to miss majority of his shots.
It was down to the wire, and possessions were back and forth. Wes who was a terrible FT shooter was fouled, and he said he groaned, because he knew he was going to miss both of them. But he made both to the shock of most of the people, and the game score was 105-98.
Wes Unseld was also known for his outlet passing. The only player who has that canny resemblance/skill is Kevin Love.
Both of them were great defenders, but Wes was clearly the superior athlete.
