I hate to do this, but i have to defend Gobert here....
Statistically speaking, when switched onto a guard in isolation situations Gobert performs well for a big man. I mean he steps out and defends the pick and roll and perimeter plays as well as most of the big men on this list, and he's doing it in an era that demands more from big men defensively outside of the paint than ever before.
It's not like we're talking about Shaq here, who couldn't defend the P&R to save his life and never left the paint as a pylon on defense. Gobert has won the DPOY award in 3 of the past 4 seasons as a center in a perimeter oriented league where it's all about space and pace, and where almost everyone can shoot. You can't deny Gobert's impact, he anchors a top defense every season but they're absolute trash defensively when he's out (their perimeter defense from their guards is awful). I can't stand the French fuck sometimes, but he's an absolute game changer defensively.
