no no no you don't get to backpedal on this one, you said Rivers would get Simmons to shoot and so far there is no sign of that

Wait wut

When did I specifically say Rivers would get him to shoot? I said Rivers would do a lot of things, but I don't EVER recall saying that lol

I don't think you understand that mentally Ben Simmons can't shoot a 3 pointer

At this point, I'm really not sure. It's 100% mental at this point, the guy isn't even attempting them still and Doc is defending him like crazy saying he doesn't care which is sort of crazy.

The other night he was spotted up in the corner, got the ball and acted like he was setting his shot to shoot the three, then faked and drove to the basket when the defender quickly closed on him. I got excited, for a second.

Nobody can really explain it, it's not like he has an awful jumper. We've all seen him knock down shot after shot from deep at the 3pt line in practice and before games in warmups and even scrimmages, other players have said he has a solid shot and should shoot yet he doesn't. It's just...unexplainable.

that's a fair analysis of the situation. Simmons could be great but for now we have to assume that he won't reach his full potential if he is flat out unwilling to ever shoot. still an All-Star caliber player even without that, but if he could add a mid range that would completely change his ceiling

His defensive versatility and impact is criminally undervalued, although being selected to all-defense 1st team last season was a good start. People don't really appreciate what he can do defensively, capable of guarding any position on any given night.

But the league is all about scoring these days, and when a guy that is ranked top 15 and makes the All-Star and All-NBA team, you expect him to be able to do more than just 10 FGA per game. He has taken fewer and fewer FGA per game each season: 12.3, 12.2, 11.4 and now 10.0 FGA per game this season so far. Although this season he is getting to the line a lot more, so that's a good sign.
