I personally have LeBron above Jordan, and have had him for many years. Even if he wasn't the most accomplished, he was the absolute best and most complete basketball player of all time in my eyes. Even though I lost a lot of respect when that bitch went to the fucking Lakers.

With that said, the next couple of years will be huge for him. If he can even get one more ring, I think that'll set him over the top for even more people. Ring count doesn't make you the GOAT, i mean Russell has 11 and shit even Robert Horry has 7.

How many more years does LeBron have left in him though? The guy was an MVP this year and dominated as much as he ever has, so would we be surprised to still see him playing at an all-star level at 38 or 39?

Fair enough. I think what you’re saying, & what can certainly be argued, I think I may even feel this way, is that Lebron is the over-all best basketball player in the history of the NBA. Where as Jordan, because of all his accomplishments & being 6-0, is the greatest basketball player in the history of the NBA. If that makes sense.

The next few years will definitely be huge. Jordan having double the rings is one thing, having 1-2 more just feels way different, & the league will be stacked next season, LA, LAC, MIL, GS, BRK, but I can definitely see Lebron winning some more rings. Plus he’ll most likely finish as the all-time points leader. His longevity is crazy, he’s pretty much literally getting better with age, despite being 35.

2016 finals stats: 29.7 / 11.3 / 8.9
2020 finals stats: 29.8 / 11.8 / 8.5

Crazy.

While we’re on the GOAT debate, I still think Kareem gets slept on too much.

6x rings
2x finals MVP’s
6x regular season MVP’s
19x all star
10x all nba first team
5x all nba def team
2x scoring titles
4x block leader
1x rebound leader
Rookie of the year
All-time leader in points

Anytime anyone mentions Horrys rings makes their whole argument invalid.

I tend to see Wilt as the GOAT but if we're arguing over whether MJ or Lebron is the GOAT without considering anyone else, I'm giving it to Jordan. Here's my reasoning:

Jordan was the better defender, and although his defence was best mid-career and he didn't give it enough effort at first, he was never a lazy defender. Both Lebron and MJ were supreme team defenders, but I think MJ was the better help defender. I think the league has gotten worse at help defence toward the low key, and I don't think that should be held against Lebron. Jordan was the more aggressive and more electric player. Lebron took a little while to find his true hustle, and I believe that he got better when he became a more aggressive player. Jordan was the better scorer, but Lebron was less selfish with the ball. Lebron has the bigger frame and he sees better over defences--and it helps him rebound (plus the game isn't all about letting the big guys rebound anymore). Both are ELITE athletes. Both dominated their respective eras and Kobe was the thread that spanned between their times of dominance. I believe that each player was more dominant than the other in different aspects of the game. Lebron (in my view) has had the benefit of getting away with far more fouls relative to how the game is refereed. That being said, it was Jordan's era which produced the "superstar foul" bias. I think that Lebron's shot improved more over his career than Jordan's did--I don't need to look at numbers to believe that, because it's just evident in how well Lebron started shooting after he was in the league for a few years.

It's easy to go back and forth over who the better player was but I think that Jordan was the more spectacular player to watch. Their stats line up in some ways but they have very different games and very different bodies. The easier comparison is actually between Jordan and Kobe. Kobe was the more technical player but Jordan was the better player. The best comparison I can give for Lebron is actually Magic Johnson--and by now, I think we can all agree that Lebron has surpassed Magic's greatness.

I think that Lebron is the 3rd greatest player of all-time, and that he has been the best player in his era. I don't think that's an insult because he has closed the gap between himself and MJ to a point where it really doesn't matter who you say is the GOAT between the two of them.

I just have a hard time with the whole "Jordan is 6-0" thing, because 6-0 means he failed to even make the Finals 9 other times. More times than not in his career he didn't even win in his own conference (made it 6 times in 15 seasons).

Making the Finals is better than losing before even getting there, people just have to keep that in mind. 6-0 looks awesome and all but when you really think about it how is that better than 6-6 would be. The goal is to make the Finals first and foremost, and Jordan failed to do that a lot.

LeBron is comparable to Magic in his passing ability and size, as well as IQ, but what else? LeBron is a MUCH better athlete in general, defender, scorer, shooter, etc. LeBron could lead the league in scoring every season if he wanted to, but that's not what he wants to do. Instead, he's leading the NBA in assists per game (and was #2 in APG two seasons ago) because he's a team player and his passing skills make guys around him better.

I mean LeBron is just an overall complete player, more so than anyone else in the history of the game. There has never been a player that is as big as he is, as strong as he is, while being so fast and agile with the all-time great passing skills and court vision, while having the ability to average the 4th best career points per game in NBA history (27.07) all through a 17 year career. This guy is 6'9'' 260 lbs running point guard in his 17th season averaging 25/10/8 leading the league in assists and was runner up for league MVP. And like you said, his shooting has become very respectable over his career shooting 36% from 3pt over the last 10 seasons.

The debate will forever go on, and there are a lot of LeBron haters out there that will hate him and choose Jordan no matter what he does. Especially with LeBron speaking out against Trump, that has made a lot of Trump supporters hate LeBron and push Jordan even more.

absolutely boggles my mind that people think 6-0 in the finals would be better than 6-6

I wouldn’t say he is the greatest of all time. But the man is great at what he does.
