i mean, MVP is subjective so a dumb award anyway
lebum was spot on, it changes every year
sometimes it's best player best team, sometimes it's best stats, etc
obviously lebroon is the best player in the league, but by that logic he'd have won MVP every year since '04 (except maybe 1 or 2 for KD)
Eh, I mean it's a tough call because the numbers Giannis produced were pretty ridiculous. He was not only an absolute monster offensively, but he was equally as good defensively (hence the DPOY award). He helped anchor the best defense in the NBA.
I think when you talk about most valuable player, defense can absolutely be considered. While DPOY only focuses on defense, the MVP award should focus on EVERYTHING. Giannis averaged 30/14/6 to go along with 1 steal and 1 block per game and won DPOY.
It's hard to argue against that when he also was the clear cut leader on the best team in the NBA during the season. LeBron had an amazing season, and was definitely deserving but i can't really say Giannis wasn't deserving too. Maybe they should have pulled out the co-MVP strategy?
