How are you already declaring this a successful season? If they don’t get past the second round is it a failed season or no?

As the #1 seed if they don't advance past the second round its definitely a failed season.

Losing to the Bucks or Nets in the ECF's would hurt but it wouldn't be some devastating upset. Any of these 3 teams can make it out of the East.

Like two years ago when they lost in game 7 at the buzzer to the eventual Champs Toronto. They had a more impressive run than Milwaukee did even though Milwaukee (who lost to Toronto in 6) made it to the ECF's because look at their path to get there....but that's the luxury of that #1 seed you're supposed to have an easier path, thats the reward for being good all season.

No shame in losing to the Nets or Bucks, although think the Sixers will take either of them. But losing to anyone else? Unacceptable for sure.

Celtics were certainly not as good as that Raptors team, not even close. 76ers didn't make the ECF's because they had to face the eventual champs in the 2nd round, but even then they proved to be every bit as good as them going down to the wire literally (which nobody else in the playoffs could even get past 6 games against them). That was nothing to be ashamed of, it was one hell of a series.

Kyrie was a disaster on that Celtics team, the chemistry just wasn't there and everyone could see it (hence why he bounced at his first opportunity).

Getting the #1 seed this year is huge, because I'd like to avoid going against Brooklyn or Milwaukee until the ECF's. Although right now the Knicks are fucking red hot and look like they will be dangerous in the 2nd as well as funny as that is to say.
