Giannis is in year 8 of his NBA career. Simmons is in year 4. Let's stop acting like they've been playing the same amount and have had equal time to add a jump shot, but Giannis is now 8 years in and still hasn't added one. He's clearly the better player no doubt, won an MVP, DPOY, incredible regular season resume but come playoff time he gets treated with the same disrespect on the perimeter as Simmons lol. It's not like Giannis is getting better, we've seen who he is (a terrific player no doubt) and his jump shot is not improving at all in recent years.
The Bucks downfall is and always will be Giannis' lack of jump shooting in the playoffs. He's their best player, they rely on him the most. Simmons isn't the 76ers best player, he's not even relied on as a top 2 scorer on this team. He's the playmaker, top wing/perimeter defender, and will give them efficient scoring and have his outbursts and always be a threat in the paint and in transition but he's not a go-to guy scoring wise. That's the difference, the Sixers are REALLY good this year and Simmons is averaging just 15 PPG and only attempting 10.6 FGA per game which is the lowest FGA per game average of his career (also averaging a career high in FTA though).
When your best player, top scorer, go-to guy, etc, can't shoot from outside of the paint, that's a much bigger issue than what the Sixers have with Simmons lol. The difference is the Bucks rely on Giannis to score in order to win, while the Sixers don't even need Simmons to score much to win games lol.
Simmons is 24 going on 25 after the playoffs and Giannis 26, lets not act like Simmons is a baby in comparison. Simmons was groomed for basketball since he was a child, meanwhile Giannis started playing in his late teens. Simmons has had plenty of off time to develop a jump shot you are full of shit, they have the same off seasons but you're sitting here acting like Simmons has less time. Stop making excuses, Simmons just flat out refuses to shoot because he doesn't want his efficiency numbers to be hurt by it. I've seen him flat out not even take a half court buzzer shot because he'd rather protect his stats than throw up a prayer shot.
Giannis is the most efficient scorer in the NBA regardless of him taking 3s at a below league average. Players have demonstrated the ability to expand their range. Look at Horford who shot 34% from 3 in Atlanta then followed up with 43% on 3.1 attempts per game in Boston. Look at LaMarcus Aldridge who went from taking long 2's to hitting 3's at 38%. LeBron shot between 31-34% from 3 in Cleveland multiple seasons. Lonzo Ball had a terrible 3 pt shot but has completely turned it around.
The commonality between all of these players? They actually took shots even when they weren't going in at an efficient rate. Simmons will NEVER expand his range if he doesn't even take those shots and there is nothing you can say to dispute that.
