I don't think Portland's bench is the best in the league. But I do think they're top 5. Especially being that we're seeing Trentjr's play is not only extending into the bubble. But past the bubble as well.
Match-ups and sample size are a factor. Bench performance is a key indicator of nothing, but it can be extremely important if injuries or fatigue hit during the playoffs. Most teams go for an energy bench, whether it's filled with scorers or defenders or guys who can play multiple positions; often young guys and vets make up a bench. I think it's a fascinating part of a roster because a good bench can make a consistent impact on winning. However, a really good bench is hard to find. I think the Lakers have one. The Blazers don't look bad to me off the bench but I'm not sure how they'll produce as the year moves forward.
